cool teacher?

I was in welding class today and the teacher was complaining about his hernia and how the school keeps stacking more and more stuff on him for him to do, that he doesn't have time to get the thing fixed. Maybe that part is kinda rough. But here was something that is pretty cool:

later I went to his office to have him check on a welding project and tell me how bad I did, he was checking his voice mail on the phone, irritating system of *'s and #'s, but one of the messages he got was from a guy in Berlin. All in German. He kinda blinked for a second and then said, "it's so weird going back and forth between languages... when it's german, I'm in a totally different place, mindset.. everything." So he speaks fluent german (and says he thinks better in german), that's pretty unusual for a welding teacher at a community college. He's a good motivational person.

Oh, and for a while I was listening to Backstreet Boys in the car while I was driving. So pleasantly mindless yet totally familiar. I actually thought a couple of their lines from one of the songs was worthy of writing up on the blog. I'll have to go find it and then edit this post again to add them in. *humming: 'all you people can't you see, can't you see... how your loves...*

That's quite interesting. Isn't it fun to find out something about a person that makes them more than just one dimensional?

We have a teacher at our school here who is freshly from Poland. She seems to be thriving and is pretty hilarious to talk to. Everything she says is a punchline that goes from an unintelligble mumble to an eruption of laughter. I am always entertained when we talk. I'm always happy when I run into her in the xerox room and we chat.
