I think i forgot to mention just how very cold it was for of last weekend. And they said it was mild!

Er, I could be way off base here, but you may have felt a lot warmer if your schnoz was under that scarf! It's a very effective heat-sink!
yeah, i took it off of my nose while I was inside, but outside it was over my nose. my ears were radiating quite a lot of heat into the air, and covering up made a huge difference, even though the scarf material is quite thin.
