old poem

Here's a poem from.. '99 or so. Creative writing class with Mrs. Rusch.

Coffee Mood

Ahhh... the sharp pungent aroma
of just black, no cream or sugar
adds a deep brown to my karma
within my soul it works a wonder

Past the dark surface gleaming
memories and faces shine
and in the slow vapors steaming
are those cozy dreams of mine

Within those dreams and recollections
the warmth of life does glow
a cold day and a fireplace beckons
and coffee to aid the slow thought flow.

I don't think it's all that great of a poem, but it is funny and interesting. The fact that it talks about cold days and fireplaces is funny considering that the poem was written in the Philippines where fireplaces are rare and cold days are... relative. The rest is pretty honest though, that I love thinking about my friends and "coffee times" we've shared. The wording irritates me a bit, but "oh well," such was writ. The photo is from Photo class with Mr. Larson. Special thanks to Steven M. who loaned me his sweet camera for the class. I'm still appreciative.

I've a couple more poems from this class to put up, more for posterity than anything else.
