As Phil has mentioned, we went to a Blind Guardian concert last Friday. It was really fun! As a little background, BG is an Epic Metal band.. they sing songs about legends, myths, and fairy tales. Songs about Middle Earth, Troy, and Valhala, just as a few examples. One of the best parts of the concert was hearing everyone in the audience sing (loudly!) the choruses to the songs. Usually the band has an effect which gives the sound of a choir singing with them, but that wasn't necessary with such an enthusiastic audience. Yes, the music was metal, with wailing guitars and pounding double-kick drum. There is a definite melody to the music though, and it has sing-along-ability.. Fun times!
This morning I went running and a short distance from my house I came across a man walking his pug. Not to be one who forces dog walkers to vacate the sidewalk for the sake of runners, I leapt atop a small brick wall just beside the walk and back onto the sidewalk again, avoiding the pair. But upon landing, rolled my ankle. It's alright. I must have just been too excited about the fact I was running. Heh. There's no swelling, and will probably be right tomorrow.
I don't like Leave's Eye (the band).
I turned 24 a little while ago. That was fun.
Disconcert, hm.. well, at the BG concert, Leave's Eye played first, and they were.. eh. But what I thought was interesting was my reaction at their attempts at psyching the crowd up by saying, "It's so good to be here in the United States of America!!!" (they were all from europe). I don't have crazy enthusiastic nationalism, though am moderately proud of my country. But it's more a thoughtful, "Yeah, I am proud of this nation." Not, "YEAHH!! AMERICA IS #1!!!~!!" I think we have a bit of a guilty nation. Sort of like Germans don't (or didn't until recently) have much pride in their nation/identity as German. So I get uncomfortable when people honestly rave about the US. I'm actually used to hearing people rail against her.
