thicker air

Have you ever thought what it'd be like to live in thicker air? I mean air that is like water. Would you exchange the 3 dimensionality of it for our gravitically inhibited movement in this gas combination we like to call "air"?

Going long distances would be hard, and expensive, but our architechture would be entirely different as well. I like the idea of a 3 dimensionally accesible world.

Before I get blasted, i know we are enabled in both the vertical and horizontal directions, it's just constrained by gravity and thin medium to being fairly horizontal, and not so much vertical.

That is actually a plausible scenario, except not on an extremely huge scale. There is a special liquid that is breathable, which is used for very deep sea diving. They use the liquid because if there was air in the diver's lungs his lungs would collapse.

There could still be rapid transport underwater, if the vehicle could vaporise the liquid around it. Also, gas filled tunnels could be made.

Remember the movie The Abyss? I vividly recall the scene where the divers had to "drown" in that liquid before they could start breathing it.

yeah, but the cost of creating a massive marine environment composed of that substance. YEEGH! It'd be awesome though. I'd be the first to volunteer for it. (c:

I love this picture. How about you? Great father-son shot.

Eric, I read about torps that create a capsul of gas around themselves as they travel and it is much faster. Pretty amazing. Think about using the 'vacuum' of no fluid in tubes to propel those trains! You drain the tunnel, then release liquid environment behind the train and vooom! Slowing down would be a bit of liquid which would brake nicely until full again. Awesome.

Don't we have anything better to do than try to create "breathable gelly world"? Now come up with something that could actually make a difference in the world, without being more or less pointless.

I think an active imagination is a gift frm the Lord. With it we can explore the edges and the possibilities of God's creation... using what we know to press into the unknown. If that increases our joy and wonder with God and all He has made, it is a wonderful thing! Keep it up!

Psshhh yeah, I have no idea why we bother with the sciences and the arts while there is still death, suffering, and evil in the world. Follow the ethical imperative: we should be completely focussing all of our efforts on eradicating these things instead of sitting in our little la la lands of oblivion...or even quicker, just nuke everything and let God sort it out. Yeah, that's it...we should develop some kind of painless, lethal virus that would eradicate all life on earth--who's with me?

Why do I feel like that's almost a good idea? It's the lazy christian in me. (c: It isn't really a good idea though... because so many people who have it wrong won't get it 'right'. Also, it's forfeiting the sprititual growth process that believers are supposed to endure through.

Of course, God's already picked out who's going to be in Heaven and who's going to be in Hell:)
