leaky leaky?

Work today wasn't so fun. It wasn't that bad either, but I had to make a difficult decision. You see, we had a pipe that was leaking a bit. It's an insulated pipe, so I can't SEE where it is leaking from, but the dripping of glycol enriched water was evidence enough. Ethanol Glycol has a distinct smell. It is a coolant, a lot like what you put in your car radiator. Call it "radiator fluid". (c: It also tastes kinda sweet. I know because I've siphoned some large, elevated, glycol-rich puddles down a drain many times in the past.
So back to the leak. I could either let it drip all night and hope it didn't suddenly burst in a shower of hot (156 degree Fahrenheit) glory. Or I could call my co-worker and ask him what he wants me to do about it (not preferred because it'd mean waking him up and he starts work early enough as it is). Or I could shut down the machine.
I shut down the machine, which also meant turning off our main Generator. When I go in to work tomorrow I get to find out if it was the right decision or not. Not really the funnest of nights at work.

If you found all that boring, then here are some things that are more interesting: My bro Peter and his wife Amanda are here in SoCal! Yay! It's great having them around again. (c: Also, I've moved to a new house. Actually, it's an apartment. It's in Buena Park. North-north-west region. (i know that's an incomplete sentence, and i'm alright with that)

So, was that the best thing to do?

Yeah, it was. I asked my co-worker and he said it was the safest course of action (which to me sounds like the most correct, right?). The problem wasn't all that serious, one of our expansion joints had slowly been compressing and loosing the tension that was originally put on it.. so it began to leak around the seams. It just required a tightening, and it's all good. These things are normal. (c:
