dinners

Well, I like Korean instant noodles. They taste so great! So I have them almost every night I'm at work. I bought a box full of them (20 packets) and have made great progress going through them. I think tomorrow I may buy another box of a different (more favorite) kind so I'll have variety as well as delight.

There's something very special about crying while one eats instant noodles because they are so spicy hot. It clears my sinuses and waters my usually-slightly-dry eyes. I've been noticing that my voice has been a bit lower for about a week, wonder if I'm burning my throat too much or something. Maybe it's the lurking cold that I've sensed for a little less than a month now.

Just remembered the gum chewing days of my youth... and how I'd save significant wads of gum on the bedpost of my bed for chewing on the next day. Ahhh.. those carefree jaw pounding days. My favorite gum for a while was called "Judge Mint Gum". Was in green, blue and white wrappers and I didn't think anything unusual about the name until Peter pointed it out. Judgement gum. Haha! Well, it tasted great. Alas no links to a website for it.

Interestingly enough, (at least I find it interesting), I am a pretty low variety eater. I eat raw oats, with milk and a bit of brown sugar for breakfast every morning (for at least a year), and now the noodles are becoming part of my regular evening meal. I need to buy a rice cooker. and lots of soy sauce.

So where does one get these noodles, and how are they different from other noodles? When Luke and I went to a Korean BBQ last week (my first time ever) I found the noodles sort of like pancit in looks, but they seemed a little bit sweet. Is that the same as what you guys are buying?

Motherly comment here, sorry... um, noddles have very little true nutrition, mostly just carbs, so they are good for the occasional meal but not all the time. An oatmeal and noodles diet is lacking in the protein you need to maintain good health. So, at least take some hardboiled eggs and slice them into your noodles, and eat some good high pro lunches. :-)

Yeah, David, the noodles are very like the normal ramen noodles, but contain just a bit more oil or something, and they're slightly thicker. Same color though, and certainly not like the ones we had at the bbq.

Mom and Bethany, I know it's not that nutritional, but the carbs help for energy nevertheless. Yesterday I went to lunch with a friend of mine and told him, "I really want MEAT." because I knew I hadn't been getting much protein in a while. So we went to Molcasalsa and I got a good meaty meal. (c: I'll probably make at least 2-3 days a week "meat days", because it currently doesn't happen regularly in my week.

I just recently lost my appreciation for frozen chili burritos. I feel like they used scrap meat in it or something, some of the stuff in them appeared almost nasty. And the flavor seemed more sour or something.

I'll stop by Trader's to have a look at what quick, freezable meals they have up there. Or quick assembly or something.

Luke, my best routine meal is a beef tamale (one dollar at TJ's) with a mound of cottage cheese and salsa. Plenty of everything you need, cheap and fast. You don't strike me as someone lacking in starch for your energy needs!

Luke, also check out the TJ quiches. And carry around a jar of peanuts. That's good protein too. And um....beef jerky!

Yeah, I love beef jerky!! It's a bit steep though to purchase regularly. Anyone know of a place to by bulk? Maybe Costco...

The beef tamale sounds good too Ariana, thanks! I'm not low on carbs.. (c: But I don't eat much bread either, mostly just those noodles and the morning oats.

Speaking of oats, those take a lot of energy to digest! Sometimes I wonder if I get back less than I put in to digest them.

The oats will digest better if you add a cup of water and a little kefir the night before, then cook it in the morning, adding some more water. Oh, but you like it raw, right? From what you describe, you are on a high carb, lo-protein diet, so the suggestions of beef tamales, quiches and peanuts are just the thing. Those frozen burritos are mostly tortilla. Another good meal that shouldn't take much time is a good pastrami sandwich with some swiss cheese. Eating good food pays off in the long run, and is worth spending some money on.
Yep! Bethany knows me well! :-)
